Subject: voyage to Colombia – 6 March 2017Dear Tobs,
Herewith I send you our remarks on our experiences in Colombia.
Four Seasons Casa Medina Hotel in Bogota was excellent. Friendly and helpful staff and the junior suite was nicely designed. A good area with lots of restaurants. Something worth coming back to.
Charlee Hotel in Medellin was also well designed with a nice balcony with a wide view of the city. There is a serious problem with noise from the neighbourhood until deep in the night. Staff could not help out on this.
Hotel Quadrofolio was the best. This renovated townhouse has a nice atmosphere with an excellent staff, a good breakfast and good services. Situated in a nice area with lots of historic buildings and many restaurants. The town of Cartagena is very worthwhile visiting.
The Golf courses : Guaymaral No. 2 is a beautiful, mostly flat and open course with fast greens. We had to get used to that. Los Lagartos D. Gutierrez is a nice course in the middle of Bogota which looks like a park planted 20 years ago.
La Macarena outside Medellin is a hilly and tough course, slope rating 142, a lot of challenge if you are looking for it.
El Rodeo inside Medellin has an interesting layout, is challenging in some places but interesting to play.
Karibana north of Cartagena is a nice Jack Nicklaus course partly along the coast. Always interesting and worthwhile.
The tours were good and interesting with good guides/drivers. Drivers were always on time which works out well.
A nice touch was dinner with Maria and Fernando of Astro Tours.
So you see we have enjoyed a lot of Colombia.
