Delhi is a city where time travel is feasible, you can go from Old Delhi, where labourers haul sacks of spices and jewellers weigh gold on dusty scales, to modern New Delhi, with its colonial-era parliament buildings and penchant for high tea. Then on to the future: Gurgaon, a satellite city of skyscraping offices and glitzy malls.Woven into its rich fabric are moments of pure beauty: an elderly man threading temple marigolds; Sufi devotional songs; a boy flying a kite from a rooftop. Delhi is a city that has been repeatedly ravaged and reborn, with vestiges of lost empires in almost every neighbourhood.

Delhi Golf Club – General J.H. Wilkinson (1951), Peter Thomson (1977 redesign)
18 holes, par 72
Distance: 6434 metres
Opened: 1931

The Delhi Golf Club staged the first ever Indian Open in 1964 and was won by Peter Thomson of Australia.Thomson helped redesign the Delhi Golf Club in 1976 and he went on to win his third Indian Open title that same year. His work was reflected through the creation of two courses, the championship course (Lodhi) and the short course (Peacock).

The par four ninth hole is the signature hole of the Club. It has a champagne glass fairway with the green surrounded by bunkers. The 18th hole provides for a tricky finish with bunkers protecting the green. The jungle is a unique feature of the Delhi Golf Club. Players will be surrounded by hundreds of tree and bird species as they walk the narrow fairways and onto the greens which are fairly large in size. Another unique feature is that historical tombs are very much part of the course layout.

Classic Golf & Country Club - Jack Nicklaus

18 holes, par 72
Opened: 1998
Distance: 7114-yard

The Golf Course comprises of a par 72, 18-hole, 7114-yard Signature Championship Course, and a par 36, 9-hole course of 3135 yard, a Social Club and Sports Complex, which offers various sports activities. The course is well balanced, with holes that vary in direction, "look," and "feel," so that one type of golfer isn't favored over another.

The course rewards strategic, intelligent thinking as much as fine ball striking, and the holes are designed to enable golfers to make precise decisions in club selection and execution of each shot.

Preserving the land's natural character was also paramount and the natural features have been integrated into the design. The majority of the holes follow the existing contours of the site in order to make the course as enjoyable and user friendly as possible.

Jaypee Greens Golf Resort - Greg Norman

18 holes, par 72
Distance: 7347 yards
Opened: 2000

This is a stunning 18 hole Greg Norman design layout which is easily one of the top layouts in the country & a MUST PLAY layout. The Jaypee Greens Greg Norman golf course is very long with plenty of hazards -both water & bunkers. The visually striking bunkers are reminiscent of the classic Melbourne sand-belt courses. The course landscaping includes open & closed woodlands, shrub lands, wetlands & wild grass areas.

The course has 88 bunkers, water in plenty and with strong winds can be a handful. With a large member community, the course has grown in stature over the years & has staged quite a few tournaments on both the Amateur & Professional circuit.

The course is currently the 2nd longest in the country & is a beast to play given the strong wind conditions that can turn the 462 yard par 4, 7th hole for example into a virtual 550 yard hole.

Day Trip to Agra
The Taj MahalBuilt in an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra.It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.

Agra Fort is also known as Red Fort in Agra, is one of the most ancient historical monuments built of sandstone on the riverbank of Yamuna in Agra by Emperor Akbar. Agra fort was developed as a representation of the strongest uphold of the Mughals in India. Full day Sight Seeing Delhi
India Gate At the centre of New Delhi stands the 42 m high India Gate, like an archway in the middle of a crossroad. It commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during the World War I. The memorial bears the names of more than 13,516 British and Indian soldiers killed in the Northwestern Frontier in the Afghan war of 1919.

Jama Masjid This great mosque of Old Delhi is the largest in India, with a courtyard capable of holding 25,000 devotees. It was begun in 1644 and ended up being the final architectural extravagance of Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor who built the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort. The highly decorative mosque has three great gates, four towers and two 40 m-high minarets constructed of strips of red sandstone and white marble.

Humayun's Tomb: Built by Humayun's widow, Queen Haji Begum in the 16th centuary, it is supposed to be the prototype of the Taj Mahal at Agra.

Qutub Minar: This is an excellent example of Afghan Architecture . The Minar is 72.5mts high victory tower, the construction of which began in the final year of twelth century by Qutubuddin Aibak and was later completed by his successor. It has been given World Heritage Site status.
