1
From the Air Kenya terminus
at Wilson Airport, you will fly in the morning to Samburu.
SAMBURU
NATIONAL RESERVE
Samburu National
Reserve lies on the north of the vast semi-desert lands of Northern
Kenya. The reserve extends for an area of 105 square kilometers
north of the meandering Ewaso Nyiro or "Brown" River.
It is part of a lava plain that includes a varied landscape of red
dirt, thorn scrub, broken volcanic rock, dried river beds, steep
hills and rocky outcroppings, some large enough to be called mesas.
Following the river curves, a riverine forest of doum palms, acacia
and tamarind is a magical contrast of cool green. This is attractive
to the region's wildlife and visitors alike. Apart from elephants,
lion and leopard, the region is home to a lot of animals among them
the rare Grevy Zebra with large furry ears, gerenuk antelope
standing on hind legs to feed, Somali Ostrich with its distinctive
legs, and the shy oryx beisa. Most of these can be seen near the
lodges that have been built close the river.

SAMBURU
INTREPIDS CLUB ****
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred in a 4WD vehicle to
your luxurious tented lodge. Samburu Intrepids Club is a luxurious
tented camp. Here you will be accommodated in luxurious tents
with four poster beds and private bathrooms. The tents are furnished
with mahogany furniture, fashioned by gifted craftsmen and the ensuite
bathrooms have dual wash hand basins. All the tents overlook the
river. The public areas are elevated and without walls and all buildings
are surrounded by wide decks where intimate niches provide shady
spots for a cool relaxed drink or a spot of bird watching. An outdoor
dining deck is used for breakfast and lunch whilst elegant dinners
are served in the lofty and subtly lit dining room. The food and
service are excellent. There is a swimming pool available
to refreshen from your long safari.
Day
2 SAMBURU INTREPIDS
After breakfast you will have
a game drive to familiarize yourself with the flora and fauna of
this beautiful rugged reserve. Lunch will be followed by leisure
time after which you will have your late afternoon game drive. Dinner
and overnight.
Day
3 DEPARTURE
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your
flight to Nairobi.
