MOMBASA
Mombasa is a coastal
and Kenya’s second largest town and a sizable port. It has
a rich history that dates back 2000 years ago. The town has passed
through the hands of Arab immigrants, adventurers, traders
and conquerors not to mention the colonialists. Mombasa is built
on an island and is joined to the mainland by Makupa Causeway, to
the north by Nyali Bridge and to the south by a frequent car and
passenger ferry on Kilindini Creek. Mombasa has a modern seaport
with multitude of wharfs and deep-water berths. Besides this, Mombasa
is a tourist attraction owing to its beautiful sandy beaches both
north and south, historical sites and the numerous marine parks.
500 kms from Nairobi.
